The cow
- The cow is a ruminant herbivore, with three pre-estomacs and a real stomach. Cattle fattening requires a diet rich in energy and protein to ensure sufficient growth and finish.
- Feeding protein-rich feed or protein supplements can promote muscle development and weight gain in cattle, particularly during periods of rapid growth.

That’s why our ‘whole date flour’ product can be used as a dietary supplement. It is characterised by a high energy source through the date pulp, which provides rapid energy in the form of carbohydrates, while the pits provide fat.
General recommendations:
*For fattening cattle, 15 to 30% of crushed dates can be included in the total ration.
*In terms of daily quantity, this represents 2 to 4kg of crushed dates per adult cattle.
*It is important to mix them with other foods, including source of protein (soybean meal, alfalfa) and fiber (straw, hay) to balance the ration.
Precautions:
1/ Gradual introduction: add the dates gradually over 7 to 10 days to avoid digestive disorders such as acidosis.
2/ Health monitoring: Observe for signs of bloating, diarrhea or dicreased appetite
3/ Avoid excess sugars: too many fermentable sugars can cause ruminal imbalances
Example of daily ration with dates (for a 300-400kg cattle):
- 3kg of crushed dates
- 3kg wheat bran
- 2kg of soybean meal
- 5kg of hay or straw
- 1 to 2kg of corn or barley
- Minerals and vitamins to adjust
